Timber Frame for New Build
With the continuing search for sustainable methods of construction, Timber Frame is by far the most environmentally friendly method of construction, being that it is organic, non-toxic and renewable.
Timber frame has the lowest CO2 cost of any commercially available building material and for every cubic metre used in place of other building materials, 0.8 tonnes of CO2 is saved from polluting the atmosphere*.
The Epsitec system for timber frame incorporates all the detailing originally designed for steel frame but also includes greater emphasis on the increased structural movement normally anticipated in timber frame structures.
To accommodate this extra movement, specific slip joints have been designed by Wetherby to allow the system to move with the building without losing the seamless facade appearance most specifiers are looking for in modern construction.
The lightweight flexible finishes offered by Wetherby also reduce the need for expansion joints in the render.
In public area, where a higher than average level of traffic occurs and combined with the likelihood of non-standard impact levels, Wetherby can tailor a bespoke design to ensure that high traffic areas have extra reinforcement at suspect levels (please contact our technical department for further details).
Ancillary finishes, brick slips and all relevant details such as interfaces with other facades or specification for junctions with windows, balconies etc, are also incorporated into the NBS specification offered for this system.
