Last night saw the 10th Anniversary of one of the most prestigious awards in the social housing calendar.
The Housing Excellence Awards, organised and orchestrated by Excel Publishing, highlighted and rewarded the vast range of UK wide companies who are currently leading the way in the social housing sector.
Wetherby were extremely proud to have presented the award for ‘Best Partnering Scheme’ which was won by ‘Building Lives Training Academy’, a unique London based employer-led training provider, whose aim is to close the gap between training and employment.
Now in its second London borough, the official launch of the Hackney Building Lives Training Academy took place in April 2013. The project has proven to be a true collaboration of partners which included Hackney Homes, Harrow College, Manor House Development Trust, Lakehouse, Mulalley and Mansell, plus many other construction companies and subcontractors. The partnership helped transform a disused, unloved community centre that was falling apart, into a multi-skilled construction training academy within the heart of the Summit Estate, Stamford Hill. Their community based courses take eligible training candidates on a three staged approach to training, which is open to people of all ages as long as they have the right to work in the UK.
The event also raised over £4000 for Excel’s charity partner, The Children’s Air Ambulance.
Many congratulations to all the award winners of the night!
