Following queries received from their installer members recently about how they can access the Green Deal Cashback Scheme, the National Insulation Association have recently provided some basic guidance on how to proceed.
The Government has made available a first tranche of £40m in cashback incentives for householders via the Green Deal Cashback Scheme.
The process for obtaining the cashback is similar to the process for Green Deal with the exception that the customer does not have to take out Green Deal Finance to obtain the cashback:
o A Green Deal Assessment must be carried out
o The works must be arranged through a Green Deal Provider who will have the contractual relationship with the customer
o The installation must be carried out by a Green Deal Accredited Installer
Installers will therefore need to have a relationship with a Green Deal Provider in order to participate in the cashback scheme.
Details of Green Deal Providers who are registed for the cashback scheme can be found at (simply click the Green Deal Cashback Scheme box in your search).
o A guide to the scheme can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-green-deal-cashback-for-energy-saving-home-improvers
Please note: The Green Deal Cashback Scheme operates in England and Wales only.
There is a separate cashback scheme operating in Scotland called the Green Homes Cashback – this has different amounts of cashback and the works do not have to be arranged through a Green Deal Provider, installers can market the scheme and deal directly with the householder – details of the scheme can be found at http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/scotland/Take-action/Find-a-grant/Green-Homes-Cashback-Scheme
