Andrew Marvell is a new build Business and Enterprise College, designed to actively boost wider involvement and community use through the range of purpose built practical studios including; dance, drama and sport. Wetherby Building Systems’ insulated render system has been used on this sensational recent development based in Hull.
The Client, Hull City Council, devised plans for a new innovative school, which opened its doors earlier in the year. The business and enterprise college, located on the existing grounds, was conveniently built while all students remained on site and were safely accommodated while the new build took place. The new development has an increased capacity for an astounding 1300 students.
HKS were the chosen architects for the project by Morgan Sindall and specified Wetherby’s system for the college, while BKL interiors were the selected installer. The system comprised of steel framed structure and cement particle board with K&A basecoat applied. 160mm mineral wool was then fixed to the outside face. The mineral wool was specified particularly for its thermal efficiency and fire retardant qualities, a popular choice often used for schools and high rise buildings.
The system was finished with 1.5mm Silicone ‘K’ Finish in white to give a fresh modern look to Andrew Marvell College.
