Denbighshire County Council has recently partnered with Wetherby Building Systems and Willmott Dixon’s Energy Services in order to deliver a training course to unemployed individuals through their community benefit project IN2 Construction.
As part of this project Wetherby has successfully delivered a ‘Level 1 External Wall Insulation Boarding Applicator Course’ for jobseekers in a bid to enhance their prospects of gaining work on the energy efficiency programmes throughout North Wales.
The IN2 Construction scheme provided a week of theory based learning followed by a two week site placement with Willmott Dixon where they could experience different operational areas including the application of Wetherby’s External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems. The course has introduced the individuals to new skills and provided valuable hands on experience within the External Wall Insulation Industry (EWI) giving them a great opportunity.
As part of the theory based learning each person was also given the scope to develop interview skills, team working, communication skills, CSCS training and health & safety. On completion of the course each individual was provided with a reference and cover letter from Willmott Dixon along with help recording their recent experience on their CV to give them the best possible chance towards a new career in this industry.
Wetherby are delighted to have been involved in this project which has proved to be a great success leaving each individual with new skills and enthused to return to employment with newly gained confidence.
Wetherby’s Training Manager, Stephen Dewberry commented; ” We are very happy to have been able to lend our support to the IN2Construction scheme. It is an excellent opportunity for those looking for employment within our industry to gain the potential skills necessary to enhance their career prospects.
