Wetherby are supporting National Apprenticeship Week

Wetherby are delighted to support National Apprenticeship Week 2017 which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The event takes place from the 6th – 10th March and is designed to promote the positive impact that apprenticeships and trainees have on individuals, businesses and the economy.

Wetherby recognises the value that apprenticeships add to the workforce and how they help individuals step on their career ladder. Wetherby currently have two apprentices who are doing an outstanding job in their roles;

Charley – Warehouse

Charley is learning all aspects of the warehouse and manufacturing. He works largely on the tinting manufacturing and mixing, while completing orders within deadlines. He also helps with the quality control of the paint colours, making sure they match and there are no discrepancies with order.

Additionally, Charley has an interest in the Technical side of the business. He has been given the opportunity to work within the technical department a couple of days a week. Here he is learning about CAD drawings and specifications.

Leah – Administration

Leah is currently in an administration role within the Sales Support Department. Her day to day roles include; helping to collate delivery notes for large customers, transferring printed documents to the online document manager while updating the delivery database. Leah also gets involved with other departments were needed.

According to Gov.uk after finishing 90% of apprentices stay in employment, with 71% staying with the same employer. 75% of employers reported that apprenticeships improved the quality of their product or service.

Karen Arnold, HR Director for Wetherby says,

Wetherby embarked on a strategy in 2012 of bringing young apprentices into the business.  We pride ourselves in growing these young apprentices and have offered full time employment to most that have started on a Wetherby apprenticeship”
