The £43 million transformation of Urmston town centre will spearhead the regeneration of this up and coming suburb of Manchester whilst ensuring it still retains its own unique identity. Urmston is bordered by the River Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal and benefits from green space such as Urmston Meadows.
The mixed use development scheme with its 144 city-style apartments also includes a shoppers’ car park, public library and Eden Square Shopping Centre with its range of retail outlets, restaurants and a 50,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s supermarket.
Broadway Malyan Architects, with their vast experience in mixed use developments, required an external render finish that would not only compliment the warmth of the traditional brickwork used around the apartment window areas and balconies but that would also be tough enough for the façade of the adjoining Sainsbury’s supermarket.
Wetherby Silicone Render System in a white 1.5mm ‘K’ finish, with its exceptional weather-proofing, low maintenance and self-cleaning properties was chosen for both the apartments and the Sainsbury’s supermarket to give a bright, modern finish with high levels of impact resistance.
