200mm Grey Enhanced EPS with Thin-Coat Silicone Render
The impressive lighthouse-inspired, clifftop home in North Devon has had its ultimate revamp with a Wetherby Insulated Render System.
Set on a clifftop with panoramic views over popular Devon coastal spots, Croyde and Saunton Sands. The property is the feat of incredible engineering. Sitting on a cliff-edge, the building had to be anchored into the bed rock to ensure erosion wouldn’t cause any structural problems.
Following an internal refurbishment on Grand Designs in 2019, the property required an external update to the façade to complete the restorations.
Palmer Birch were the Main Contractor for the project and Wetherby recognised installer Langdon Brothers installed the system to the blockwork substrate. 200mm of Enhanced EPS insulation was used to help with energy efficiency to the large cliff property. The insulations closed-cell structure inhibits water absorption and it is unaffected by the normal range of climatic conditions.
Wetherby Thin-Coat Render System was chosen as the best solution for the exposed property. The addition of silicone to our render increases the product’s repellence, significantly reducing the dirt and environmental pollution that can adhere to the surface, while also improving the self-cleaning properties of the finish, which occur through rainfall on the silicone.
A fascinating project for all involved.
