Wetherby EWI with Stone Wool insulation
Croxley Danes School in Hertfordshire has been designed to address the substantial shortfall in secondary places available in the local area.
The 33-acre site offers established grounds and has been designed by HKS architects and constructed by Kier and Macai Ltd. The site will contain a wide scope of fantastic facilities for students whilst retaining natural character within the surrounding area.
Wetherby’s Stone Wool Insulation was specified throughout the project in a thickness of 230mm enabling them to offer excellent acoustic performance combined with its non-combustible inorganic rock wool core meaning noise can be minimised and strict fire regulations can be met. The new building was completed with Wetherby’s Silicone ‘K’ 1.5mm Render providing a clean, contemporary look for the school.
Croxley Danes School opened in September 2020 and is fast becoming the first-choice school for the surrounding area. Once at full capacity the school will be able to offer 1206 places for students aged 11-18. The school is set to model St Clement Danes School which is already well established and achieving outstanding results.
Mr Stephen Thompson, Headteacher, shared the news with families today, saying “we are delighted to inform the parents and students who have supported the school on its journey so far and look forward to welcoming them to the new site.”
Dr Josephine Valentine, CEO of the Danes Educational Trust, said “I would like to pay tribute to the hard work of all those who have contributed to the considerable planning and preparation which goes into building a new school: the team at Croxley Danes, the Education and Skills Funding Agency, the Department for Education, Hertfordshire County Council and all the local schools, parents, local councillors and our two local MPs Richard Harrington and David Gauke.”
