Dalgety Bay, Scotland

Wetherby are delighted to have been involved in this ‘Glasshouse’ project which has recently been showcased on More 4’s ‘Building the Dream’.

Proud homeowners, Alan and Lucy Brown bought the empty plot of land in Dalgety Bay, Fife back in 2012 with an idea to build a home from scratch that would suit their lifestyle as a family. The plot has since been transformed into a two storey house boasting impressive views overlooking the Forth Bridges.

The design and build of the project came together with the help of Andrew Black Designs and Dalgety Joiners who have worked in collaboration to create the Brown’s perfect home.

Wetherby Building Systems Ltd were approached to suggest a suitable product to complete the exterior of the property and complement the already existing dark grey stone cladding. Wetherby’s white 1.5mm silicone render was chosen due to its durable finish that also boasts an anti-crack formulation. The UV resistant pigments have allowed the surface areas to be seamlessly rendered achieving perfect colour consistency throughout and keeping it in line with the neighbouring community.

Alan Brown said: “We had been looking at many properties for some time and none of them were quite right so we decided to do it ourselves and start from scratch. We designed this for our family and we don’t see ourselves moving. We just want to enjoy it.”

Design business boss Andrew Black said: “We are delighted and proud one of our designs will be shown on TV. The owners went through many designs and it’s fantastic to now see them all settled in their dream home.”
