Welsh Rugby Union Ace, Gethin Jenkins realised the potential of this tired 1960’s property and enlisted the help of Cardiff based MIB Facades and architect Lloyd Britton to bring it to life.

The old crumbling render and stone cladding was stripped away to reveal the original blockwork. The roof and windows were replaced and a balcony added to the master bedroom suite.

A Wetherby insulated render system was chosen for the exterior of the property. 50mm phenolic insulation was fixed to the substrate followed by a basecoat and reinforcing mesh, this was then encapsulated in Wetherby Silicone 1.5mm ‘K’ render in white to give the property the clean modern finish that Gethin had asked for. The final U-value of 0.30W/m²K will not only ensure the property is snug and warm during the harsh Welsh winters, but will also help Gethin do his bit for the environment by cutting the amount of carbon his property releases into the atmosphere.
