Wetherby INNOVATION System - Stone Wool Insulation and Dry Dash Finish
An eight-year project to improve energy efficiency, lower fuel poverty and support the decarbonisation agenda for Hull City Council is now complete, with help from Wetherby Building Systems Ltd.
2000 social housing properties, in a range of non-traditional housing styles have undergone a full transformation with External Wall Insulation (EWI), delivered to PAS 2035 standards. The project also included other measures, such as new roofs and new doors and windows.
Wetherby was appointed the EWI partner for the works supplying a unique OFGEM-approved Innovation external wall insulation system. The key to the Wetherby Innovation EWI systems is an exclusive 25-year planned Inspection programme which includes scheduled inspections being carried out on each property over a 25-year period. The Innovation award also provides a 25% uplift for funding through ECO4 and the Great British Insulation Scheme and unlocks Band D properties which are normally excluded from standard ECO & GBIS measures.
The chosen Wetherby EWI system for the works comprised ROCKWOOL Stone Wool insulation. An A-rated, non-combustible insulation used within the Wetherby system, is installed directly on to the substrate. The system was finished with Wetherby Dashing Mortar, in conjunction with a complementary Wetherby Dry (Spar) Dash aggregate. Dry dash (also referred to as pebble dash or spar dash) gives a fresh, hard-wearing, waterproof finish.
Mark Nearney, assistant director for Neighbourhoods and Housing at Hull City Council said:
“Thanks to this partnership, our tenants have warmer, more comfortable, and healthier homes. And, very importantly in the current cost-of-living crisis, the properties are more energy efficient, which helps to save money on fuel bills.”
