Merton Suites: Mont St Clair, Jersey

The Merton Suites consist of 28 self-contained stylish apartments and are intended for leisure and business visitors to Jersey. The apartments have ben designed as individual dwellings, yet can be interconnect should larger family groups seek somewhere special to get together to celebrate.

The Client, Seymour Hotel Group, required a contemporary façade that would reflect the luxury contained within the apartments and a Wetherby Render Only System offered the finish required.

The design called for a crisp white render finish with decorative render bands to add a uniquely modern appearance.  Wetherby sourced pre-formed EPS boards which were mechanically fixed to the substrate.  The whole façade was then covered with a Wetherby basecoat into which a layer of Wetherby Alkali Resistant Mesh was embedded to give a strengthening base layer.  Once dry a further tight coat of Wetherby Basecoat was applied, fully covering the mesh and trowelled to give a smooth, level layer for the topcoat.

The final finish of Wetherby 1.5mm Silicone ‘K’ was then applied in a continuous movement, working to a wet edge and in the same direction to ensure consistency of finish.  Prior to the render setting it was polished with a plastic float to give an even texture and ensure all trowel marks were removed to give the stunning contemporary façade to the apartment building.
