NIA calls for Major New National Home Insulation Programme.
As the debate goes on around an energy price freeze if Labour comes to power in 2015, Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the National Insulation Association (NIA) has commented: “There are still 7m solid walls, 5m cavity walls and 7m lofts that need insulating in the UK and we are calling for cross party agreement to a major new home insulation programme.
“Home insulation is the most cost effective way of saving on domestic energy bills. An astounding 59% of heat can be lost through uninsulated walls and roofs; but with the right measures put in place, householders could be making huge savings on their energy bills and cut their carbon usage. The Energy Saving Trust reports that by simply installing Cavity Wall Insulation savings of up to £140* per year can be made and £180* per year from Loft Insulation. Draught-proofing windows and doors can save £30* per year and when installed with other measures will greatly increase the comfort in a home. The savings are even greater for insulating solid walls up to £490* per year.”
Householders are advised to contact an NIA member today who can advise them on the most appropriate and efficient method possible of insulating their home. Furthermore, NIA members adhere to a strict Code of Professional Practice so peace of mind comes as standard.
