Plasterers at an Isle of Wight building firm have received specialist training in a new energy-saving render system.
Round the Island Building Ltd organised a training day on Wetherby Building Systems’ external insulated render for solid wall buildings at its offices in Clarence Boatyard, East Cowes.
Tara Perris, from Round the Island Building, said the Isle of Wight Council and energy provider SSE were interested in using the system to improve the eco-credentials of old housing stock on the island.
Wetherby’s systems were highlighted at last month’s Renewable Energy Awareness Day at the IW College. Wetherby offer a range of training courses to suit a wide range of skillsets and specialise in upskilling related industry tradesmen such as plasterers. They have training centres in Thurrock, Wigan and Wakefield and are currently building a large purpose built facility in Haydock, Merseyside.
Mrs Perris said: “Round the Island Building is committed to training its employees and has staff currently enrolled in the college”.
