After the success of last year’s 5-a-side football tournament, the Balfour Beatty site team at Brownhills Academy organised another charity football tournament which took place on Friday 13th July, 2pm-6pm, at Redgate Clayton Football Club.
Employees from Wetherby’s sales and technical department jumped at the chance to be involved, being that the proceeds from the tournament were being donated to the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, which provides a range of specialist care and support services for children with a shortened life expectancy and their families, from their purpose-built house in Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent.
Despite the weather being absolutely abysmal, with torrential rain being an understatement, out of the 16 teams that participated, the Wetherby team made the final, drawing 1-1, before eventually losing out on penalties.
Well done chaps – it was all for a fantastic cause!
Better luck next year!
