Wetherby creates greener future with City of Trees & Wigan Council

Wetherby Building Systems Ltd are delighted to be supporting the local community in creating a greener future by joining forces with Wigan Council and City of Trees to sponsor the planting of new trees on Golborne Park.

City of Trees is an innovative and exciting movement transforming underused and unloved woodland. Trees provide a multitude of benefits, both long term and short term. As well as being aesthetically attractive, they remove and store carbon from the atmosphere, enhance air quality and slow heavy rain fall, therefore, reducing the risk of flooding.

Wetherby’s donation has enabled 4500 trees to be planted on Golborne Park. The trees will be planted across winter 2020 and into 2021 making the local landscape more resilient to the impacts of climate change and transforming the current derelict land into an attractive place for nature to thrive.

This is a fantastic project and we are proud to be involved and get behind the local community for such a worthwhile cause.
