Greenholm Primary School in Great Barr, Birmingham is reaping the benefits from the recent installation of Wetherby’s EWI to its newly built extension.
This new build has not only enabled pupil places to be boosted but it has also created new learning spaces that are able to provide an excellent acoustic performance due to Wetherby’s high strength mineral wool insulation. With its non-combustible inorganic rock wool core, it can ensure minimal noise throughout whilst meeting the strict fire regulations required for education applications.
Bouygues were appointed the main contractors for this project along with Wetherby EWI installers, Rendserve. A mineral wool quilt using a thickness of 130mm was incorporated within the steel framed structure (SFS) studs followed by cement particle board (CPB) to maximize the thermal performance and enabling a u-value of 0.25w/m²K to be achieved. The system has been completed with Wetherby’s Epsicoat Silicone render in colour 1010Y20R to give the new build a fresh contemporary look and in keeping with the surrounding school units.
This development will allow the school to meet the growing capacity demands required by the neighboring community as well as generating new jobs for the local area.
